Hey lovers! I’ll be participating in The Shiny Squirrel’s fourth installment of her pop-ups right in time for Valentives Day. Come and “treat yo’self”
or buy for your Boo.
So, I’ve been looking to see how to make bracelet belts. I managed to hand skive (with a paring knife) one that took me like 4 hours and multiple Charlies Angels sessions. And I’ve not managed to replicate it using the same process again. Since paring knives should really only be used for cutting fruit and vegetables and in place of a Phillips Screwdriver…I started doing some research online for skife knifes. First off I found this hilarious video on youtube when I typed in “skife knife belt”.
And then I found a nifty little table top machine from Tandys that was pretty reasonable in price and looked really easy to use – I love that they have videos accompanying most of their wares to show you how to use their products. But it wasn’t until I had watched the Made Right Here video that I posted below for like the third time, and there is a nanosecond where you see Cause and Effect using a blade to skive the part where the buckle went that I thought wait a minute, I’ve seen those at one of my leather suppliers, is that what it’s for?? So I’m adding to my tool kit with a skife knife and a strap stripper, enabling me to make these babies below! Perfection. They’ll be going up in the store shortly, but until then, they’ll be at the Pop-Up tomorrow at Smith + Butler! 6-8pm, see you there
Shiny Squirrel is at it again and reid.damnit is back popping up for one day only at Azalea Boutique in San Francisco! You will find all those clutches that you love so much!
