Kim is a very dear friend of mine and a continuous muse.  Her whole apparel philosophy is creative but not crazy, mixing the high end with the low brow.  Which is kind of how she is in real life, we’ll chow down on philly steaks one day and then only sip $24 cocktails the next. She is an advocate of mixing it up – vintage YSL with Topshop, little boy blazers with beautiful feminine silk pants.  Constantly changing it up, keeping everything fresh.  Here is the interview that L Magazine did with her from the series The Fashionable Bystander shot by Crystal Gwyn. Heavy Metal

Bartering was originally a way to get around the fact your crops hadn’t cashed in just yet.  In modern day times more of a way to prevent extra interest mounting on your credit card and to do trades with creative friends. A jeweler that I found on Etsy and I did a swap recently, she took the marvelous Leslie in black:

and I got this fantastic ring – Persephone’s Jewel

I love the weight of the piece, the blackened colour and the ‘gem’ inset.

D.I.Y. Booties

I am hopelessly in love with a pair from Coclico, only they return not my love and I’m on the waitlist for them.  So in the mean time I have been visiting my personal Thrift/Vintage store around the block from me weekly looking for a replacement.  I was browsing and found these boots, only I didn’t like the top and then I remembered Rackk and Ruin had done a posting on fixing up a pair of boots.  And I thought, what the hell, they only cost $20, what’s the harm.   Click Here for her DIY original post

So I got out my nearly dead ankle booties and measured them to roughly the same height.  I cut them down with a pair of scissors and stiched up the zipper at the top with thread so it doesn’t run off.  Cut a strip of leather and folded it between the lining and the outside and glued it in and then  lightly brushed in boot polish to the newly cut edge.  Utter genius, and while I wait for the booties of my dreams to arrive from Spain these will do nicely:

I’ve been busy, I’ve been glued to my Singer making up more and more and more.  These two are limited edition, both hides were from Australia and New Zealand when I lived there and have traveled about as much as anyone with wanderlust could hope to.
