I woke up this morning with a message from Sergio that he had finished the first photo and wanted me to check it and make sure the lighting and feel of the shoot was conveyed as I had wanted. Well it is, and I’m very excited to show you the first photo that is completed.
Once again I feel so lucky to have an arsenal of talented friends I can call on. Allow me to introduce them:
Sergio is a Spanish photographer who lives in Madrid and works with some great magazines like Cyan, Doze and El Duende who now we are on my third lookbook together. Laura Lashley on make-up who I’ve known for some time when I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar (literally) and Alexis modeling who I recently met when I began working at Marlow & Sons.
Alexis was a professional ballet dancer who trained at S.A.B and when I told Sergio this (though we were messaging all of this information) I knew his eyes were lighting up instantly imagining the direction of the shoot. Something I see a lot in his photos and that I’m drawn to is his use of movement and to have a professional dancer at our disposal was a very exciting prospect.
So without further ado here is the first photo! I’m also super excited to be using a lot of colour in my bags for the first time, but more on that later…

The Muppet Show was always a highlight in the cartoon lineup on the weekends as a kid, while I don’t think they translated well in the movies the show clips even as an adult, still make me laugh. Particularly Animal, the Swedish Chef and Miss Piggy when she was karate chopping anybody. I was looking around on youtube and found Alice Cooper (!) had been a guest star – was their nobody that Jim Henson couldn’t make child-friendly?? As it’s Sunday and it’s the morning I thought it appropriate to give a little Sunday cartoon action…

This video is right on point timing wise, I was just talking with Sergio yesterday (the photographer from my shoot) about what images we’re going to use for my lookbook and how I want it to look. We both like images to look as untouched as possible but also changing little things here and there to make certain angles pop. It’s a really interesting side of photography for me and if I had the time I’d explore it further, in the mean time I’m leaving it up to the professionals…This video is a spoof of how to achieve flawless skin and sample size weight without calorie counting, thanks Refinery29 for the beauty tips…

My T-Mobile contract finally ran out and I switched over to AT & T for a shiny new iphone. First downloads? Angry Bird/Skype/Facebook (duh)/twitter and INSTAGRAM holy crap I love it! I mean I love taking photos and the quality of the camera on the iphone 4S is pretty magnificent. Nothing will replace my canon g11 but for having something on hand that’s small and lightweight, it is so fantastic. Even Annie Leibovitz thinks so – read what she thinks HERE
Anyways, this is a suggestion that you should follow me around the city via my iphone…search for me on instagram, my user name is @reiddamnit Here are some of my favourites of the week:
