Mad-Rid

Just a few of my favourite pictures of a wonderful city.  Any place that lets me begin the day with pound cake and coffee, hits me mid-afternoon with cerveza pequena – I know I know they have a real name but it conjures up the exact image and flavour for me – just baked tortilla, salty and viscous boquerones, smoky chorizo and crunchy charred prawns and finishes up with mama-made paella is pretty damn cool.  As I write this my tastebuds are wondering and the fact that I broke my camera the 2nd day I was there means I have no photographic proof of these delights.  But Sergio decided we should take out his old Nikon and these are what we collectively took over the last two days of my trip.

El Rastro, best Flea Market on the planet

Jamon Hotel

Shopping for Saints

Candy!!

Late in the day

Just chillin' in my deck chair

'As a photographer, you can never have enough cameras' much the same theory as I have for shoes...

Ray of Light

Back before Madonna popped out Ray of Light there was Picasso, another one named artist.  I used to be a huge fan of his back when I discovered ‘Art’ and I remember being in Paris and going to the Picasso Museum and was just blissfully lost for a couple of hours amongst his work, discovering what he was and where he began and more of the stories behind his pieces.  For me, who has Museum Attention Deficit Disorder or M.A.D.D. the only thing that made me leave was remembering my buddy who was in a nearby cafe artfully writing in her journal and that even in Paris 2 hours was a long time to keep a table hostage with only a cafe au lait on the check.

So I’m here in Spain and going to Reina Sofia tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to seeing Picasso’s Guernica.  And then coincidently found these images on Life Magazine’s website.  I think it may be the re-ignition of my former love…
