Saturated

I took these when I first came back to NY and I was in love with the city, not that my adoration has waned…Some pops of colour at the M.O.M.A.

Don’t go chasing waterfalls

KASKADE SS 10
“Rise arch rise”… ”fall water fall”

A collection inspired by arches and water finally ending their intolerance of one another.

Despite the fact that the model looks like she is surprised and confused to be on a photo shoot today.  Side note-why oh why do we still see this ‘face’ it is my least favourite ‘look’.  I present Alexander Koutny, click HERE for the whole collection, here are a few of my favourites.  I love the simplicity of black and white and the elegant use of patterns.

D.I.Y. Booties

I am hopelessly in love with a pair from Coclico, only they return not my love and I’m on the waitlist for them.  So in the mean time I have been visiting my personal Thrift/Vintage store around the block from me weekly looking for a replacement.  I was browsing and found these boots, only I didn’t like the top and then I remembered Rackk and Ruin had done a posting on fixing up a pair of boots.  And I thought, what the hell, they only cost $20, what’s the harm.   Click Here for her DIY original post

Before

So I got out my nearly dead ankle booties and measured them to roughly the same height.  I cut them down with a pair of scissors and stiched up the zipper at the top with thread so it doesn’t run off.  Cut a strip of leather and folded it between the lining and the outside and glued it in and then  lightly brushed in boot polish to the newly cut edge.  Utter genius, and while I wait for the booties of my dreams to arrive from Spain these will do nicely:

Cardigan v’s Post Office – Knock Out!

I can’t stand it when I’ve missed a delivery as the Post Office nearest me is abominable, what in the hell they do behind the scenes of that place I will never know, I can not get out of that place in under 30 minutes no matter what time of the day it is and no matter how many people there are in front of me. Williamsburg S4th office you should be ashamed..But imagine my joy when this little baby is handed to me:

Cardigan DelightPhoto courtesy of Oveja Negra

Oh la la, that put a smile on my face! I mean if you had to limit yourself to just one cardigan this season..it should be from Rosaria of Oveja Negra, it’s a hand knitted delight. Then I was walking home and I needed to get a ‘can’ to alter the lighting in my photos for my Etsy store. Photo shoot ensues, and I think it shows off my wares pretttty well:

Let’s hear it for New York

You when there are days you walk around the city and you just feel overwhelmed about how in love you are with NY. It feels like a pop-up book sometimes, you have storefronts in the foreground with the bridge rounding out the middle and then some towers in the city in the background providing this weird 3-D affect. The man in the local Memorial Headstones store who has told you twice that you look like a flower blooming out of the concrete, never gets old. When the subways run on time, when there is good music playing on the platforms. When the people and things you see are a constant parade of inspiring design and culture rolled out (it seems) just for you. How can you not love this city?

Cheese Doodle Dandy

Cheese Doodle Goodness

I love Cheese Doodles and after several kinds of alcohol made it through my system after a rather crazy night dancing and hugging up on everyone. I went home and stopped the cab two blocks short of my house and hunted for a family size packet of Cheese Doodles – the puffed ones of course. I woke up this morning mildly hungover (Cheese Doodle magic) and went to sit down at my computer and found Doodle Dust everywhere. Inspired by the wreckage I wrote an ode to Cheese Doodles:

“A whole family of Cheese Doodles was massacred last night at approximately 2.49am, this went on well until 3.18am. Never before in the history of Reidville has this kind of carnage been seen says local newspaper Doodle Toots News. Neighbour Mary-Anne who was the first on the scene, wondering what could be keeping her dear friend of 19 years Ritzy Doodle from their usual Monday morning Poker and Pie. The back door open she called Ritzy’s name, when no reply came she walked through the family room and found what she says she will never forget – the scattered remains of her beloved friend, husband, son and their parakeet Charlie, from the kitchen all the way to the den. One survivor was found amongst the debris of yellow dust, well loved and respected Grand Pappy Doodle, his neck broken and foot missing. He was rushed to Whizzz Local but breathed his last crunch and passed away in the ambulance. Police believe this to be the work of Tequilla Jones, and are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything to come forward and aid the investigation. A funeral will be held this coming Wednesday with an open bag viewing on Tuesday between 12-4pm at Nestle Funeral and Memorial Home.”
